200 Haut Veyrac

It was with the Lamb. just a hint of greenness to the bottlebut all in al a great match for the Australian lamb from costco (I could have eaten all night) The wine was smooth and mellow with a trace of sediment in the glass, If I had more of the wine I would save it for a while, but I don't . . , I don't have a lot of description for the wine it did what a great food wine should do, it accompanied the meal, cleansed the palate and offered a refreshing note to the blend. When I opened it however, It was pure joy in a glass with all the right berry flavors and nuances.

Before dinner had Alsation Riesling (Paul Zinck 2005) came under screw cap. The wine wa nice enough, but withut any of hte zippy diesel and apple that a Riesling should have. Maybe it is changing tastes, I used to love the dry crispness of Alsace, this time I was missing the fruit, It was probably the wine would drink again, but not purchase.

Note that Paul Zinck bottle only the very basic line under screw-cap - at least that was what I was told in 2005 at their stand at Vinexpo -, not the medium, and not the top range.

Hard to argue with pure joy in a glass! Sounds quite fine.

Indeed despite the "prestige" it drinks as a basic wine.

Coming straight from a Dirler Belzbrunnen Riesling 2002 I must point out that there are better producers in Alsace than the, no doubt worthy, Paul Zinck whosewine we enjoyed in Eguisheim a few years back. E g, the Rieslings of Dirler that offer any amount of diesel, zip, zing and a lively acidity.

Jusrt my 0.02 EU, mind you.

Cheers'
