2000 Domaine Georges Roumier Chambolle-Musigny

With dinner last night of simply roasted chicken and root veggies.

2000 Doamine Georges Roumier Chambolle-Musigny. Nice deep red garnet color in the glass. Nose of pure Pinot fruit with ripe black cherries, asian spice and wet earth. The wine was very smooth and sliky on the palate with medium weight and pleny of forward fruit yet well balanced with acidity. Black cherries, blackberries, plum and anise were fairly prominant. The wine is probably as good as it going to get because I think that the charm of this wine is the fruit. "B+"

I think I've drunk these up. Always liked the wine, a clear argument that good Burgundy doesn't have to be from a "great" vintage or from a

1er cru vineyard. Thanks for update

Good point. I paid $35.00 a bottle in a case lot on release. I ran into a Diageo rep at a tasting and he was running short on his commision so I got a deal on the wine.

Last february I had one bottle of the 2004 vintage of this very same wine, while in Beaune, dining at Ma Cuisine. Absolutely flat, no fruit at all.

A great dissapointment from every point of view. The wine was decanted by the owner out of our sight (I hate this but this is a convivial restaurant with a great wine list) in a comfort setting. Was 54 euros in the restaurant.

Oh, well.

Strange, doesn't sound like reports I've read. I haven't tried- prices became too steep as Roumier became trendy. I paid $30 for 2000, $35 for 2001, $42 for 2002, and then stopped. For '04 I just bought the Bourgogne.

It did say Georges or Christophe on winelist? Not the dreaded Laurent Roumier.? :)

I'd say Domaine Georges Roumier but it's been a month and I did not come with the bottle back home ;-)

I just say an off bottle. But it was quite a dissappointment, to say the least.

Best,

Santiago
