2001 Chambolle Musigny Domaine Bertheau et Fils

Hello,

I have a question about the following wine:

2001 Chambolle Musigny Domaine Bertheau et Fils

This is considered a village level red burgundy? And also around what price would it be?

Thanks in advance!

Indeed, it is a village level (the village being Chambolle). Unless it says 1er Cru ( I think Bertheau makes one of those general 1er Crus where they blend several 1er cru vineyards).

The village Chambolle probably retails for $30-35. I think of Bertheau as probably about the price equivalent of Drouhinm, a slight notch down in price from say Roumier & Mugnier.

In any case, I personally feel '01 was especially kind to Chambolle-Musigny, so probably a nice wine. Dale

Lowest is $22.99 from John Walker & Company in San Francisco. Average is around where Dale had indicated.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, the bottle does not have 1er Cru or the name of a vinyard.

Im ashamed to say I just paid $54 for it at my local wine shop. Is this sort of mark up typical at your corner wine store?

Chambolle-Musigny,

Thanks for your reply. I checked on John Walkers website but could not find it. May I ask where you found the price?

I'm getting everything mixed up today. The reply on a different thread to Anders was meant for you on this one. Here goes again. I need some wine!! :-)

Sorry about that, but that was my mistake. I pasted the wine, and the line-feed between "2001 Chambolle Musigny" and "Domaine Bertheau et Fils" caused my software to burp. Correctly input, I found it at $49.95 from the San Franisco Wine Company (lowest available in U.S.). Well that ought to make [you] feel better at least.

I really loved that 2001 Drouhin Chambolle-Musigny. I'd like to find other

2001s from the same area but haven't done well to find them. Anyway, it seems like no one else in Northern MA shares my desire for this wine as the online inventory hasn't moved since I bought my last 3 bottle of it... I'm patiently waiting for the next 20% off sale in January when I may just clean them out.
