armagh - jim barry

G'day "m"...

It seems the "experts" differ somewhat in suggested peak drinking windows. Apart from my own notes, I have relied on Langtons' and the AWG (Australian Wine Guide), and some Halliday notes.

91 Armagh is nearing the end of the optimum drinking window. Enjoy it now I'd suggest. 92 Now - 2010 93 Langton's suggest 2006, whereas AWG suggests 2015. 94 AWG this time suggests 2006 whilst Langtons say 2012 (with a 90 rating). 95 & 96 will get better for a few more years, suggest drinking 2010-12. The 96 gets the best rating (93), and the 95 (92).

Early 90's styled Armagh often have tasters referring to rum and raisin notes, whereas later vintages (mid 90's) were more fruit dominant notes of plum and raspberry.

These wines do see action on the secondary market, and prices between $90-180AUD are gained.

Enjoy.
