TN: 3 good whites

Monday I made toor dal with spinach & squash, warmed some leftover pimenton cauliflower & some naan, and made a salad. With dinner we had the 2008 Wil li Schaefer “Graacher Domprobst” Riesling Kabinett (it’s the #2 if mo re than 1) zippy, racy, a true Kabinett, beautiful apple and citrus fruit expression, minerally/slatey tones, long, yum yum. A-

Betsy made a trip to HMart and we had scallops in a ginger/soy marinade, lo ng beans with pepper, rice, kimchi, and seaweed salad for dinner Tuesday wi th the 2005 Trimbach “Cuvee Frederic Emile” Riesling. Good match with t he scallops, this is less austere than most young Freddies, peach and necta rine fruit with a little petrol edge, maybe not a CFE for the ages, but tas ty early. B+

Last night clams with a basil puree and red pepper over pasta as well as a arugula salad, wine was the 2011 Colle Stefano Verdicchio di Matelica. Bri ney, nutty, green apple and citrus, good acids and good length, this is a nice wine for low teens. B+/B

Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C mediocre. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a party where it was only choice. Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.
