Bird in hand Wines

I am going out to dinner tonight and all the wines will be from the Bird in hand estate.

We will be drinking with each course:

Bird in hand Riesling 2005 Bird in Hand Chardonnay 2006 Two in the Bush Merlot Cabernet 2005 Nest Egg Cabernet 2004 Two in the Bush Shiraz 2005.

What is your opinion on these wines and the vintages above, I have never tasted any of them before?

They should contact Braida and check out his Bricco dell'Uccellone ("hilltop of the big bird").

Bird in the Hand wines (white) and Two in the Bush (reds) are the standard offering of the Nugent family. The father is ex Tatachilla, the son a Roseworthy grad with experience at a number of wineries. Both ranges are good mid priced (not exceptional) wines. The Nest Egg is their premium range, and I have only had the 2003. I believe it was released too early, as the tannins were too heavy, and had that 'greenish' finish associated with reds that are not quite ready.

The Shiraz and Riesling fruit will come from Clare Valley, whilst the rest of the fruit comes from the Adelaide Hills, with a dollop of Fleurieu Penninsula.

Enjoy the night.

Thanks for this. I am in France writing this, I am here for a week and I will write about the wines on my return. I was pleasantly surprised by the Reisling, nice overtone of lime and green tasting which I enjoy.
