cellartracker.com or similar...

Just wondering if anyone here uses cellartracker.com, something similar, or some other software package to track their wine collection? I've been using cellartracker.com, and though I like the interface, the site itself is quite ponderous (read: s l o w to load)...

Also, I'm thinking about opening a 2002 Ladera cab, and was wondering if anyone has had this one before...I've heard great things, but haven't tried it yet...

CHEERS!

I don't use CellarTracker much, so I decided to see how it is now working. I found the site to be very fast to load - 2 to 3 seconds, and usually just as fast if you enter a wine name and vintage to look up notes. There must be some sort of bottle neck between the CellarTracker server and you. I am using rather high speed broadband that will download at over 5 Mbps when net conditions allow. If you are on dialup, this might be the reason for the slowness. Also, anything such as an overloaded IP provider, net congestion, etc could cause a problem. I am in the central US. I have measured download speed from my website server to test sites in other countries. I can get fairly high speed connections to London. However many European locations allow download rates of only well under 1 Mbps.

Me, using dial-up at 53.2 kbps, 2 seconds to load search page (I have a book mark, but no cookies or prefetch); 13.740 seconds to load home page with images. (Info by Fasterfox, at "Courteous" settings, "Rendering tweaks only, does not increase web server load")

I have been using it to look up recent tasting notes, but I don't belong or anything. Quite useful, for me. d.

Hi,

I have been using cellartracker for about two years,to manage my 600 + bottle cellar and I have found it to be wonderful. It is very easy to use the hardest part of the process was the loading the information which was more time consuming that difficult. I am sold on cellartracker and now contribute a fee (donation) which I think is 40 dollars or so a year (it is a suggested amount based on your cellar size).

Yeah...I'm a member as well, and I do love the interface...I have broadband as well, but it still seems sluggish. Might be a comcast issue locally with their server. I don't have issues with most other sites...THANKS!
