Chase Zinfandel Hayne Vineyard?

Has any tried the Chase Zinfandel Hayne Vineyard. I understand it comes from the same vineyard as Turley's Hayne Vineyard Zinfandel. I know it's pretty hard to find. I saw a single bottle today for USD37. I might buy it but I don't want to buy it just because it's rare.

I'm sure using grapes from the same vineyard does not necessarily make a wine just as good as Turley's but I wonder if anyone has any experience with this wine. I've tried other lower priced Turleys zins and was pretty impressed.

Hi Rob,

It has been quite a while since I tried this one and i am not one for taking notes, but from what i can remember this wine has nowhere near the depth of the Turley. I had similar thoughts to yours when i first ordeered it it (on a restauraunt wine list) It is not bad by any means, but keep in in mind that the Turley sells for twice the price as well.

In my view there are much better 40 dollar zins out there...and much worse. Actually if I can do a similar thing to this. I had a 15 dollar Franus "Atlas Peak Mead Ranch" zin last night that I thought was quite great last night--there is also a Turley wine from the same vineyard which I also like quite a bit at $35... each is different, each is worthwhile in my view.

I guess I would say that on the Chase that you should not expect a Turley as it is a much leaner structured wine...
