Dugat-Py and Ramey

We had dinner with friends last night and my contribution was a bottle of 1999 Dugat-Py Gevrey Chambertain 1er and a bottle of 2005 Ramey Hyde VIneyard Chardonnay.

1999 Dugat Py Gevrey Chambertain 1er. Big and black in the glass. Fairly profound nose of black cherries, blackberries and bittersweet chocolate. Still quite young and primary on the palate showing a ton of black fruits, blackberries some cassis a slightly bitter coffee note and a medium level of acidity. The tannins were a bit aggressive but were grapey and should smooth out in time. This wine evolves a bit each time I taste it and will only improve with time. "A"

2005 Ramey Hyde Vineyard Carneros-Napa Chardonnay-Nice pure golden color. Pure sweet apple on the nose with a hint of tropical fruits and a stoney component. Very well balanced on the palate with pear, apple, a bit of Meyer lemon and a nice smooth acidity on the finish. My first tasting of the 2005 Ramey and another pretty good wine. "A-"

Disclaimer-I distribute both of these wines in Ohio and Kentucky although the Dugat-Py came from my personal celler the Ramey was a sample.
