food match for eiswein

Lots of talk about eisweins....I'd love some suggestions of what to pair it with. I'm more a fan of the "contrast & balance" school of pairing, but am open to any ideas!

Nothing at all - just enjoy the wine and quit trying to gild the lily (or 'to gild refined gold, to paint the lily' - just to stave off any Shakespeare purists out there).

There are some wines that will only be harmed by trying to match them with food and many of these are sweet wines. I have done extensive matching with Yquem, for instance, but in the end, quite frankly, it is better not to bother.

I agree that Eiswein is best by itself. Though a 1989 Gysler Weinheimer Holle Eiswein (Rheinhessen) matched well with (parts of) a cheese platter, and another bottle of the same at an offline apparently went well with tarte tatin (others reported, I'm not a dessert guy)

I feel the same re older Sauternes (not enough Yquem experience, but with most I feel solo is way to go). I like younger Sauternes with blues or foie gras.

As an aside, though the Gyslers I mentioned were mine, while I adore older TBAs and BAs, I prefer my Eiswein young ( and from vintages where boytrytis wasn't prevalent).
