Liver and fava beans? ;-)

Was recently discussed here under the topic " mid-week wines". Someone suggested cheese. Myself I think it is great by itself - just crack open a bottle and sip it throughout the evening!

I ahould have known better, of course that is the "classic" treatment, but for those of us with less exotic tastes . . .

If you?re referring to the Hannibal Lecter scene, I distinctly remember it as a good Chianti ... wherever he found _that_ ... or is my memory playing tricks with me?

The book used Amarone, the movie dumbed it down for those not in the know.

Yeah, he said he was going to have an old friend for dinner with a good Chianti and some fava beans. But there was a contridiction. The meal that they served him before he escaped was double think lamb chops served with a glass of white wine.

I think he was human organs and a sweet white wine. He even joked when a guest at his house complemented him on the food and asked what it was. He said if I told you, you would not eat it. When the police were investigating murders it turned out that all the deceased had their internal organs liver, thyroid, pancreas removed..and appeared to be surgical.

I asked this of a wine merchant one time, and they said "just by itself!" Maybe some sort of nut or cheese snack rather than food.
How about just some green chunky cheese or peanut M'Ms. Works for us.
