Makeshift wine cooler

I need some temporary storage for some wine that I will be taking possession of within a few days. I have ordered a wine cellar refrigeration unit, which will not arrive until next week. The wine is a 1983 vintage, and has been kept at a constant 55 degrees. Is there anything I can do temporarily, such as puting the wine into a styrofoam cooler with ice?

Thanks in advance

If you can, simply clear out some room in your fridge and store it there.

Thanks for that. I knew a guy who kept a bowl of water on the bottom of his unit just for that reason. I'm not sure if it was able to supply sufficient humidity, but he wasn't keeping any of his wine as long as I plan on keeping some of mine. But, is there a certain recommended humidity range (at 55F) that I could check for?

The humidity level is really far less critical than controlling temperature levels and fluctuations. As long as the wines don't get exposed to very low humidity levels for long periods, you're probably OK. Ideally, people usually cite 60-70% RH, but a 40% RH (for instance) will not be disastrous for wine storage, but will over prolonged periods promote evaporation of the wine from the bottles and possibly hasten the deterioration of the cork. Unless you're someone who cellars wines for

20-50 years, it's not really that huge a worry.
