McManis Cab

Hi, just arrived. Recently had a 03' McManis Cabernet, loved it. Does anyone have any recommnedations concerning reds with similar characteristics? I enjoy the rich oak flavors, etc. Thanks, C

Some years back, I had their Merlot (about '00) and put in a case for a value "burger" red. It held up, but I should have limited myself to a half-case, as it has not held up.

I have not had their Cab, but would assume, based on their Merlot (a varietal that I am less fond of), that it was well worth the $. In about the price point (based on my cellar notes on the Merlot), you might want to look into the Dynamite Cab. It WAS part of the Chalone portfolio, but I think it might have broken away - or similar.

Another possiblity would be a Bdx. blend from South Africa, the Glen Carlou Grand Classique. If you can find it in your area, it would be worth a taste.

They've been making a very drinkable syrah for about $8.
