I'm doing my monthly tight-arse quaffer hunt.

Anyone tried Hardys Voyage Tri Blend red?

Or actually purchased anything from this place or had anything on the list?

I'm considering buying a case of cleanskins for large scale quaffing. And / or a case of the Hardys voyage tri blend red.

I do enjoy hunting down a quaffer bargain.

I bought some at Waitrose yesetrday. Yuck. Kiddy wine. Taking the rest back this evening.

Hi Mat Haven't tried the Hardys but I have used Get wines direct. Service & price were quite good for the quaffers I picked up. Cleanskins promoted as Coonawarra Cab & Heathcote Shiraz blend for $10 a bottle. At $5.95 you aren't going to get much though. I brought half a dozen bottles of 3 brothers shiraz for $10 for a BBQ I was having and it went down quite well. If you really want to keep the costs down McWilliams inheritence range, Shiraz Cab or Shiraz merlot at about $6 is drinkable. Wedding wine I call it. Have you tried the whats hot section of

they always have some terriffic wines in there. I can vouch completely for their service as I have brought around 200 bottles from their vintage direct service and never had a single problem (except for a cork tainted bottle of Journeys End Shiraz "The Beginning" which was replaced with a similar bottle as they were sold out) Good luck on the quaffer hunt. Okie dokie,

Thanks for the advice.

Although I do find Nick's quite expensive when compared to that old fave Dan Murphy's.

And there are a fair few drinkable domestics you can find sub-$10AU for a cheapie [labelled].

What caught my eye was the talking up of that particular Hardy's and the fact they are selling buy one get one free cleanskins, which works out at under $5 a bottle. However involves the risk of being stuck with 2 cases of undrinkable muck, although I've never heard anyone say their stuff is totally undrinkable.

I came across this wine at A$3.99 a bottle so I bought a red and a white to try. I'll let you know what it is like later.

Well I have to say that at A$3.99 (about £1.60 or US$3) this wine (Hardys Voyage) represents excellent value. Obviously it is relatively simple but for those of us who need to keep the average cost per bottle down it is quite drinkable. The white is a Colombard, Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc blend and is similar to all those "classic dry whites" we get in Oz. The red is Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Verdot, and Merlot and has some nice red berry characteristics.

I bought some wine from Getwinesdirect and was happy with my purchases. I think their descriptions are fair and the prices good for cleanskins and wines obviously being sold off by wineries. I wasn't interested in the more mainstream wines they sell (like the Hardys) as I can get that locally.
