Forgive my antipodean ignorance - grapes have just been harvested downunder for 06 vintage - unless I am very sadly mistaken, 06 harvest for northern hemisphere is not for another 6-7 months.

For him, we will make shore the hemlock grass is ready early, so he can maintain his Socratic stance... I think we have hit the root of the problem, if you know what I mean... ;-)))

Well we've had the coldest winter I can remember in Provence. On average we get 10 nights of frost per winter, this year we had over 50. Strangely though, due to mild november weather, the strawberries are starting early... go figure...

And yes, you are welcome any time, say hi to Colin and Sue for us

FWIW, I think that scholars have judged it more likely that conium maculata was used as a state poison by the ancient Greeks. And the shape of the root should come as no surprise: the flowers and leaves of conium m. look very close to those of carrots and Queen Anne's Lace. I found this out last year while in Berkeley when we chanced upon some conium growing wild in a nearby park. In fact, if it weren't for the purple spots on the stems...
