Piedmont & Campagnia recommendations

I put this out there some weeks back, but didn't know my itinerary. So last chance...please post your recs!

I'll be in Piedmont next week for 6 days, and then Campagnia for a week after that. What I'm looking for are hidden gems. Small wineries. Preferably wines not available in the United States, but anything interesting! Please please please just throw out your lists.

In return I promise to take copious notes and tell all.

Thanks so much everyone e. winemonger

Maybe a visit to Dessiliani's in Fara in was a place to visit, it's close to Gattinara.- I plan to visit the winery in September, depending on the weather. I dont know if these wines are availlable in US, but I doubt it....

I do not mention any barolo or barbaresco. A good book it is enaugh to find the best producers. Besides you can find their bottles in the US. But If you have time, I give you a odd suggestion: two excellent white wines producers (first the winemaker and then the wine).

1-Forteto della Luja - Loazzolo vendemmia tardiva Piasa Rischei. Address: Regione Candelette 4, 14050 Loazzolo (Asti) Tel 0141831596 It is a sweet botrytis late arvest moscato. Other wines are available in the cellar, where you can taste them. 2-Vigneti Massa - Timorasso Costa del vento Address: Piazza Capsoni 10, 15059 Monleale (Alessandria) Tel 013180302 It is a very good dry long ageing white wine, but Walter Massa makes also some superb barbera. On the way you can taste also some Cortese di Gavi, and (do not forget it ) Dolcetto di Ovada or Dolcetto di Acqui. In this last DOC I suggest you "Cascina Sant'Ubaldo", that makes also a good bracchetto(AZIENDA AGRICOLA CASCINA SANT'UBALDO REGIONE BOTTI 26 15011 ACQUI TERME ALESSANDRIA I. Tel 0144 311546, 0144 311546). Enjoy your wine trip!! Luk

I went to an Italian white non-Pinot Grigio tasting Friday, and the runaway favorite was a Terredora Greco Di Tufo "Loggia Della Serra" 2002. Pale gold with the vaguest hint of green, a very pear nose with touches of lemon/citrus, and a beautifully balanced mouth. That's in Campagnia.

Here is a link to a Wine Spectator article that mentions the Di Tufo.

We figured it would be good with baked/grilled fish, so let us know what you think. If you get to it, that is... and FYI, the price quoted to us at a local store was $21.69 on special order.
