It's the fault of trolls who maliciously crosspost and/or set followup headers so that anyone who replies to them will inadvertently crosspost to irrelevant groups. I advise you to killfile the original poster when he/she crossposts, and in the case of the latter, killfile the user who is being replied to, as the one doing the replying probably isn't even aware where the post is being spread.
