Rose suggestions?

A moelleux rosé from grolleau gris, so delicate as a burgundy wine. Difficult to find? Absolutely. Great? Absolutely too.

I recently liked the 2005 Muri-Gries Lagrein Rosato (Alto Adige) - less than $10. I've liked the Cantalupo Il Mimo, Pibarnon Bandol, Oupia Minervois before. Angeli rocks. The Lopez Hered�a Tondonia is a very seriously styled rose, not maybe what you want for a garden party.

I'm not much of a Rose drinker and most I've tried are just too light and simple. However, I tried one from Wild Coyote in Paso Robles, California that was incredible. A Rose with quite a bit of complexity to it. Not like any other I've tried. They only distribute around California but they offer mail order as well.

Among North American wines, I always like the Cabernet Rose from Simi and the Petite Rose from Mirassou. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING OLDER THAN A 2005 Vintage. I'm sure retailers and restaurants still have 2004's they need to unload.......

There are many fine Rose's in France like from areas like Anjou, Tavel and Provence.

Avoid Richard's Wild Irish Rose

Thanks Joe and good luck in Florida. Thank you to everyone who contributed to this thread. I'll let you know which wine my client ultimately chooses and how it goes over with the guests. While I was unfamiliar with rose wines I would never have stooped to purchasing Richard's Wild Irish Rose, unless my clients were homeless.

Even the homeless deserve better, Prof! ;-) (though it is probably horribly politically incorrect to even suggest giving alcohol to the homeless)

My advice for a decent, cheap, available rosé would be La Vieille Ferme's 2005 Cote de Ventoux, though if you can find their 2004 Costieres de Nimes rosé, it's got even more character IMO.
