Hmmm - that old problem of French geographic names not following conventional pronounciation wisdom. If it were "burgöj", it would have to be written "Bourgueuil", because the French "eu" correponds to German "ö".
I guess we need a native speaker from the Loire.

Well, I can't provide you with that, but I do live fairly near, and spend some considerable time in the region; enough to have heard the name pronounced by any number of locals. I can assure you, it rhymes with "cercueil" (as noted elsewhere), and will take another stab at the phonetics of the final syllable.
How about: goi-ee-ye? (goi for goiter!)

You know, how ever it's pronounced....I like it. The Cabernet Franc's of the loire are really good values and I enjoy the Chinon and the Bourgueil! Bi!!
