Sweet Shiraz

One of my wedding gifts was a bottle of Iron Gate Sweet Shiraz from the Hunter Valley in New South Wales. It's great - but does anyone know how it's made?

To be honest, no. But my guess is that it would be like a port - fermentation stopped with residual sugar remining by adding brandy. How much alcohol is there? If it is 16% or more that would support my theory.

No, it's a straightforward 12.5% with no mention of fortification. I wonder if it has been microfiltered to remove the yeasts at an early stage?
