1994 Château Figeac - France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion

Consumed at Bistro Chartreuse in Yonkers, double-decanted one hour before dinner. I thought it hard as I decanted, but by the time our main courses came the tannins had softened considerably. With time a rather beguiling nose of cedar, coffee, and herbs. Medium-bodied, with enough black plum and cassis fruit to stand up to the tannins. Old-style St. Emilion, quite good (better than I expected, after a tough run of '94 St. Ems). B+/A-

Restaurant is new in Yonkers. $15 corkage. Good escargot, excellent foie gras. Betsy had a very good steak frites, I had an excellent skirt steak with carmelized onions. Highly recommended.
