With rack of lamb with a kind of persillade crust, pasta, and broccolli rabe, the
1999 Roc de Cambes (Côtes de Bourg). Medium to full bodied, not for the oakaphobic. But the big ripe black cherry and plum fruit meshes well with the mocha notes from the oak, and the finish is rather long and lush for a $20 Bordeaux. Tannins are present but somewhat fine, I think this is probably best drunk over the next few years, but a nice wine for the price. B+
Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C mediocre. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a party where it was only choice. Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.
