My wife and I have been drinking some of my former clients nebbiolos from the 1995 Vintage lately. These are still available from a Maryland distributor, Mondo Vino.
Convento di San Frontiano (2nd label of Oddero) Barolo Vigna Rionda 1995- Brownish tinged hue still dark, tarry alcoholic fruit, still very tannic, a little heat in the finish. A traditionally made wine 87/100. Drink now-2010. I do not have optimum storage.
Villa Ile Barbaresco 1995. Deep red-brown. Assertive complex tobacco like nose. Moderate tannins fruity flavors lingering finish. 91/100 Drink now-
2007. A Better stored bottle would still have a year or two to mature. Illeana Corridini is a very modernist producer in Treiso. You can find both Oddero & Villa Ile on my website.
Both were $30-$35 retail bottlings initially. I'm know Mondo Vino has lowered their wholesale prices.
