TN: Burgs, Piedmont white, Beaujolais

2017 Chiesa ?Quin? Roero Arneis Pear and tropical fruits, moderate acidity, soft finish, I wanted to like this more than i did. B-/C+

Friday dinner was Bobby Flay fennel/cumin chicken with mint/parsley/chile sauce and a ramp/spinach risotto. Wine was the 2006 Chanrion (La Voute des Crozes) Cote de Brouilly. Bright raspberry/cranberry red fruit, some earthy mushroom notes, tangy, B++

Saturday was Grey sole, rice with nori, & spinach, with the 2016 Lamy-Pillot Chassagne-Montrachet. Midbodied, some overt oak, fleshy pit fruit, a bit round but with nice mineral edge to finish. B

For Mother;s Day, I shucked oysters, grilled dry aged steaks, and made broccoli, roast potatoes, salad. Dana made a fruit tart. Wine was the 1988 Drouhin Clos de Vougeot - I?ve liked this before, but this time it outperformed. Takes a bit to open up, fresh and tangy acids, black cherry ,coffee, with some (pleasantly) funky notes of leather and smoked meat, barnyard dancing around the edges. Good length, earthy/mineral finish. A-

Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy gradelos r, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C drinkable. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a party where it was only choice.Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.
