TN Chablis GC Les Clos 1979, Rene Dauvissat

This was the last bottle of my Rene Dauvissat Chablis Grand Cru 1979. It had been well stored since shortly after release. Les Clos, in good years and when well made, can be a very large and long-lived wine. It can require many years to show what it can become, and it can be a bit raw when too young.

The wine is light lemon colored. It is still very clean and likely could last several more years. It has a rather full body, but this is balanced by plenty of acidity. There is the usualy mineral character and some ripe fruit. There is a faint hint of nuts - it reminded me a bit of hazelnut oil. Here is a wine that will stand up to very rich seafood dishes with old-fashioned rich sauces.
