TN DRC Grands Echezeaux 1970

The DRC Grands Echezeaux 1970, bottle # 012048, had a good level and a good cork. It had been properly stored since shortly after release. The color was medium scarlet with a bit of brick around the rim. The wine still is holding well, but it is a bit unbalanced. It has fairly high alcohol and is a bit hot. It does not have enough depth and complexity to balance. It is decent, but well below the 1970 DRC La Tache and Richebourg. Checking current auction prices in Decanter, it sells well below La Tache and Richebourg, and even Echezeaux 1970, so I suspect my bottle may have been typical. I tried to drink a bottle of the 1970 Echezeaux many years ago, but it was too badly corked to even taste. I have one bottle of it. Hopefully it will not be corked and can be compared with the Grands Echezeaux in the fairly near future.
