TN for '83 Saint-Pierre St. Julien?

Not even close to an area in which I might pretend to expertise :) - just received as a gift. Anyone have a TN, comment, or suggestion as to whether it's ready to drink?

Thanks :) - Ewan

Not had this one. But:

1) Some bigger gun '83s have been mostly ready and mature for a couple years. 2) '83 Gloria (same owner) hit its peak 5-10 years ago, was fading a bit last time I had (2001). 3) Had the '82 St-Pierre from double-magnum, it was definitely drink up.

I'd extrapolate that this is likely on the downslide, but still quite quaffable! There's no immediate hurry- in decent cellar, I doubt there's any difference between now and New Year's Eve, but I wouldn't hold for years.

Good to see you posting here, hi to Jenny.

Long time, no read, Ewan. Good to see your name around here. Here's what the Sainted Parker has to say about it:

"...fat, succulent, and very concentrated with a soft, rich, almost jammy concentration, this full-bodied, robust wine has a seductive lushness and will make excellent drinking. Anticipated maturity: Now. Last tasted, 3/89"

Oh, there was a number (87) also floating around that review... ;-)

It sounds not unlike Dale's assessment if you ask me.

Thanks, all - Hunt, Dale, Mark - for the helpful responses. We'll drink right away. Oh, what a pity ;)

And, yes, I should f> snipped-for-privacy@yale.edu wrote:
