The 2002 St Supery Napa Sauvignon Blanc is a little grassier than the previous vintage. Nice citrus and canteloupe fruit, medium acidity, good wine. B/B+
1996 was clearly a better year in the Medoc than the Right Bank of Bordeaux, but there were a few RB wines I liked , like Troplong-Mondot. I had also liked the new-wavish 1996 Chateau Fontenil (Fronsac). I had saved one bottle of the this internationally styled Merlot. Opened last night with roast chicken, garlic roast potatoes, and asparagus (after a great Maderia/mushroom soup). Lots of sweet vanilla, red berry and cherry fruit, lush and soft. With the tannins faded and low-acidity, fruit just kind of hangs in the mouth. I should have drunk this with the others 3 years ago. B-Grade disclaimer: I'm a pretty easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C mediocre. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a party where it was only choice.
