TN: Good week so far- Medoc, Bandol, Wachau, Pfalz

Monday we had stuffed poblanos but no wines, but Tuesday used some of the same fixings for taco night.

2001 Dr. von Bassermann-Jordan Forster Jesuitengarten Riesling Spatlese Still has those vibrant 2001 acids, though this is the deepest 01 out there. Grapefruit, pineapple, and petrol, moderate sweetness, good length. B/B+

2019 Tegernseerhof Riesling Loibenberg Smaragd New producer to me, and I quite liked. Lighter in style than most Wachau Smaragd, yet not lacking in oomph. Lime, peach, and a hint of petrol. B++

Strip steak, baked potato, and bok choy

2000 Ch. Potensac Sweet juicy dark fruit, enough tannin that there is no hurry here, a little low on acids. I think blind I would have thought RB. Nice Wednesday night wine, no complaints at $19 back in the day. B

Last night a quick “bouillabaisse” with 2022 Ch. Pibarnon Bandol rose, a big step up from weird recent Pradeaux. Fairly dark for Provence, but light on its feet on palate. Strawberries, appleskin, orange zest, with a saline edge to finish. B+

Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C drinkable. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a party where it was only choice. Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.
