Spicy shrimp on mint and arugula

2011 Knoll Durnsteiner Kellerberg Riesling Smaragd Big, full, but balanced, with white peaches, petrol, and honeysuckle.Really fun. B+/A-

Grilled pork tenderloin, grilled endive, potatoes, salad

2014 Clos de Roilette (Coudert) Fleurie Red fruit, earth, a little mocha. Some tannic structure here, but just a little air this is quite lovely and long. B+

Curried chicken cutlets (kin of tonkatsu style) with slaw. I love BdB with fried chicken, figured this would qualify, opened the NV Barbichon Blanc de Blancs. Unsure if the match or the wine, but this seems somewhat plodding. Sharp and tart but at same time seems flat. Really disappointing./B-/C+

Flannery strip steaks, ramps, beets with a walnut pesto, sweet potato, salad

1986 Sociando-Mallet Another good showing of this. Still some 1986 tannin, but balanced by good fruit and juicy acids. Blackcurrant, lead pencil, and soem green tobacco. So fun, A-

Oysters, trout with a lemon butter sauce, beet greens,

2020 Collestefano Verdicchio di Matelica, Citrus, white citrus blossoms, tart and bright, with a almost Muscadet like mineral finish. B+/B

Lemon roast chicken (Hazan recipe), spaghetti with guanciale and artichokes, asparagus, salad I ed eying an older Flaccianello,.but too nervous with artichokes and asparagus. 2017 Querciabella Chianti Classico was bright.cherries and dried cherries, campfire. Lively.. B/B+

Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C drinkable. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a party where it was only choice. Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.

And the best label in the biz, hands down ;-)

I have a magnum of the 14 Tardive that I mistakenly ordered. I think I'll be leaving it to Andy in my will :(

Durn! I was sure from the title that you had hosted a tasting to the strains of "Master of Puppets." ;-) Since I've eaten many times at the band's favorite sushi restaurant in the Bay Area, I suspect that the boys might like sake, at the very least.

Thanks for the entertaining notes, Dale.
