Krk? You mean Grk (a grape variety), from the island of Korcula, Croatia, I think. That wine is pretty peculiar, I recall from my drinking it in Dubrovnik and Hugh Johnson does indeed write "a strong, almost sherry-like wine"... So it may not have been cooked, after all! Anders

Sorry, you are right! There is indeed a large northern island of that name. However, there are some quite drinkable wines to be found in Croatia - especially from the red Plavac grape. Posip is a nice little white summer quaff. Anders
