Sunday in Georgia Betsy made sockeye salmon with lemon zest, soba noodles, and mint, along with bok choy with hoisin. Wine was the 2010 Oyster Bay Sauvignon Blanc. Very tart, green, herbaceous gooseberry fruit. Not going to mistake this for anything but SB, but this could use some roundness. B-/C+

Leftover wine with pot roast on Monday, just leftover white and red. We moved up our flight Tues and made it back just before Westchester airport was closed for ice/snow. A nasty day, but friends invited us (and dog) over for dinner (a fish stew, salad, etc). Several wines:

NV Pinon Brut Rose Delightful, crunchy strawberry fruit, a little rounder than on release. I really like this. B+

2004 Jean & Sebastien Dauvissat "St. Pierre" Chablis yes, the other Dauvissat. Medium bodied, light chalk notes, green apple, pleasant clean white. B/B-

2006 Feudi di San Gregorio "Rubrato" (from half) Fat, black plum and a little prune, leather and espresso. B-

2007 Ridge Three Valleys Zinfandel Midbodied, spicy red fruit, a little vanilla, good length. Not going to mistake it for a Geyserville, but very pleasant Zin. B

2007 Egri Bikaver Bulls Blood (I think Egervin) Plodding, dull, maybe I was just tired but thought this a bit disappointing even for a cheap Hungarian. C+

Nice to have a quiet night at home with some ribs, brown rice, & broccoli. Wine was the 2009 Maisons Brulee "Herdeleau" , a Loire red blend. Fresh, cranberry and red plum fruit, spice, sandalwood. Fun, interesting wine, with a crowncap! B+/A-

There were also a couple of open wines from Dave watching the house. The 2005 Greysac ]had not weathered couple nights open very well, but the 2009 Bibi Graetz "Casamatta" Rosso, was a pleasant little Sangiovese- straightforward, no apparent oak, some earthy notes.

Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C mediocre. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a party where it was only choice. Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.
