TN: Rabaud Promis 2001

While choosing wines for a client that I was cooking for, I deemed it necessary to garb a bottle of Rabaud Promis 2001 ($30 750ml) to pair along side the Caramelized Apple Galette that I would be serving. This selection is also due in part to the fact that I had purchased a few 375's without ever having tasting the wine and it gave me a good opportunity to take a sneak peak at what I had waiting for me.

Opened only two hours before serving it sported a very poignant nose of pineapple and bitter spice (allspice, juniper, long pepper). The lush and full mouth feel was surprisingly refreshing as the acidity kept the wine from being heavy or cloying, and I felt as if I could easily drink an entire bottle without feeling gross. Though I only nabbed a few sips here and there, the long finish (lasting upwards of a minute) made me quite content that I had a few more of these babies to enjoy later on in life. Not to mention the rest of the 2001 vintage as well!

This stuff is awesome! Great QPR for me too.
