TN: Santa Rita 2007 Reserva Cabernet

May 26, 2010 1 Replies

Loosening the strings a bit last night, I prepared a dinner of: boeuf haché dans le style d'Hubert Keller pomme de terre cuite carottes dans le vinaigre de cidre brocoli cuit à la vapeur

With it, I opened a recently acquired Santa Rita Reserva 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon. I have always been fond of Santa Rita's style, but this example seems to have shined brighter than usual. Fruit, plums, nectar, a hint of Vanilla and soft accessible Tannins came to the fore. This probably would not be a candidate for another twenty years - but then, neither am I. ;-)

I haven't had the 2007 in fact the last Santa Rita Reserve that I drank was the 2005 which is a wine that I buy often to serve for larger get togethers (I could buy it for about $12) but I always ended up drinking it myself! Nice bottle of Cab for a great price.
