TN: Serious Xarello (and dead Falanghina)

Betsy had a chamber concert in city after opera, I made a swordfish steak with capers and saffron with leftover vegetables. Opened a half of the 2007 Feudi di San Gregorio Falanghina (Sannio)- undrinkably oxidized. Other recent bottles were fine, I'll assume this was just a random bad cork. Next up was the 2006 Terroja de Sabate i Coca Xarello (this is the upper end bottlling from Castellroig). It has the mandatory "I'm serious wine, feel me" heavy bottle, but no apparent oak. Full bodied with good acids, lemons and blood orange over some stony minerality. Long finish. I really quite like this, though at about $30 I'm not rushing out to buy more. That however probably says more about my buying habits for Spanish whites than the wine, which is actually a good value compared to many wines.

Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C mediocre. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a party where it was only choice. Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.
