TN Stoneleigh (Marlborough) 2003 Pinot Noir

I had the Stoneleigh (Marlborough) 2003 Pinot Noir tonight. It was a gift from my sister in law, who went to New Zealand last year and bought this for me sight unseen. She had tasted some wines there, but not this particular one. It turned out to be wonderful. It started with a nice full nose, and soft cherry on the palate. We had it with a rack of lamb that I barbecued with rosemary and dijon mustard, and with grilled zucchini and pepper, and humus (which goes very well with lamb).

This wine was a very good match for the lamb and all its accouterments. I was initially concerned about the mustard vs the Pinot, but it turned out to be quite nice, and the sweetness of the rack of lamb complemented the Pinot Noir very nicely. This was a fine example of the breed, and if New Zealand were any closer (it's about as far away as you can get and still be on Earth) I'd do some serious wine tasting down there.

93.18772 on the MPS (Modified Parker Scale), and between 94.9417 and 94.9533 for the match.
