Do not click on any file that is a .scr attachment. This is an executable script much as is .exe. Although some such posts could be innocent, an .scr or.exe attachment can have code to do neary anything to a computer, so do not open such a file even if it claims to be from the Pope. Several recent viruses and Trojans have been spread by .scr attachments. There are much safer ways to put something up on the web.

Actually, I don't know that it is, in fact, a spammer. More likely, the addresses are being spoofed by the virus program, and I wouldn't be surprised to find the writer was someone with a problem with shaw.ca...or optonline.net, or cnet.com. In which case, reporting them also achieves the purpose, that is, harrassing shaw.ca. YMMV, tho'

ObWine: What does anyone think about Fat Bastard? I kind of like the chardonnay, but the shiraz was just not very interesting to me...both were

I used spamcop.net to determine the source. Seems to be Shaw.ca I've sent complains and they've confirmed that the offending account is theirs

Correct. To be precise, it's the P2P.Spybot.dl worm coming from an infected residential shaw.ca cable modem. High bandwidth worm propagation -- just great! :(

...or

Nope. It's coming from shaw.ca all right.

I agree about their Shiraz: pretty boring Languedoc Syrah, but far from offensive. Haven't had the Chardonnay and don't have much motivation to try it, I'm afraid...

The modem is infected or the computer attached to it is?
