Which '89 Bordeaux?

Think I'm gonna dig into the last of my stash of '89s for Thanksgiving (my wife does a mean roast duck, and it's my birthday besides). Have two bottles each of Haut Brion, Lafite R., Leoville Las Case, Margaux, and Pichon Lalande. Does anyone know how any of these are drinking now (or where I can find some TNs on same)? Thanks in advance, and GO CUBS. I Believe . . . .

Haut Brion will have the information you seek on their web site for

*their* wine. I do not know if the others do.

Check the Squires BB and do a search and you will find some of these TNs.

Pichon Lalande is doing pretty good right now and has been drinking beautifully since I first had it in 1996. This one never shut down.

The others I am not sure- though I think Haut Brion is one to save for several more years.

Margaux is a bit controversial in 1989. I have not tried it yet, but if it were me I would consider opening this one "just in case"- ie to get an idea whether the wine is ready or needs more time.

In general I have found 1989 to be a vintage where the wines are uncommonly flattering, but will age and improve far more than their forward nature suggests.

Thus it is dangerous to dig too deep into these before they are ready.

But right now a Pichon or Margaux couldn't hurt :)
