a fining screw-up

Apr 01, 2005 2 Replies

I had a carboy of cloudy riesling that cleared PERFECTLY with Super-Kleer. Then, as I was racking, I dropped the siphon onto the bottom, stirred up the debri, and the end result is that the wine is now pretty cloudy again. My question is will the original fining agent results just settle out, or am I back to the beginning and do I need to add another dose of something to clear the wine. If so, should I just use Super Kleer again?

It should settle again very nicely without adding any more finings.

Tom is right, the stuff is already bound to the fining agent that carried it to the bottom. Give it a few days and I am sure it will settle again. Probably already has.
