air lock newbie question

Nov 29, 2003 2 Replies

I have a DJ of wine with an airlock that has been undergoing MLF for 6 weeks. I no longer see any bubbles rising but the air lock trap is still

1/2" raised. I would think this means the air pressure inside the DJ is higher than the air pressure outside. But does this mean fermentation or MLF is still in progress?

thanks

Joe

Not if it's stopped perking.

Hi Tom

By perking do you mean the occasional bubble passing through the air lock? How often should a bubble past through to indicate activity?

thanks

Joe
