apple jack

Oct I put a batch of apple jack in a large carboy and let it ferment till the

5th of Jan and than i set it out to do it's freezing process. it seperated like it was suppose to and I sampled it just last week. to my surprise a friend commented it didn't have any alcohol content to it. (he says when he drinks all hard liquior it tends to burn his throat, due to a previous operation years ago) How would I check to see the alcohol level of this mash and if it doesn't registar on the Riechter Scale I thought I would dump a bottle of vodka in it........couldn't hurt what do you all think. this stuff tastes wonderful. the apple cider I used was pasterized......thank you

The only way to know for certain about the alcohol content is to have kept records on the SG. Did you measure it at the beginning and at the end? If not, you might get an idea from the current SG if you tell us the current SG and how much sugar, if any, you added to each gal. This will at least help figure what the alcohol level was before freezing. The freezing could not have done anything but increase it. Vodka will raise the alcohol level but if there is not alcohol in the starting wine then you are just making mixed drinks.
