I have 7 gallon carboys. It would be a bit thin :)
However, all of them actually hold more than their stated capacity--apparently by about .5 gal for 6 & 7 gal, and varying from .25 to .5 for 5 gal.

Actually, that was the point of the milk. I come home with six gallons each week, and I would have poured them all in.
I used 8-1/3 lbs/gallon, and added 50 lbs, assuming my scale is reliable in the range above my weight. It turns out that my initial mark with electrical tape, made by using a 2 quart measuring cup 12 times, came to exactly the same point.
