Grapes in Virginia

Dec 23, 2003 3 Replies

I have been making wine in Virginia for 3 years now and have yet to find someplace that sells PYO wine grapes. Does anyone know of a place that sells wine grapes to the home winemaker. I have contacted some of the local wineries with no success and most of the local PYO only do concord or the such. I think that there might be some place in Staunton but not sure.

I am willing to go to Maryland as well.

Thanks,

At the bottom of the page you will see vineyards in adjacent states, including Virginia. The last one on the list (Windham) is where I worked part time before re-retiring.

The individual below is a consultant for a number of vineyards in Northern Virginia and knows who is selling what and to whom. He can probably help you out.

I forgot to add: You will see my name as a point of contact for the last Vineyard on the list. Don't call me. I don't work there any more. Contact the consultant above. He still works there.

You can also check out S&S Wine in Baltimore. They sell California grapes. I have never bought any there but some claim they have good grapes and the prices are relatively cheap.
