Dear Tom

An interesting article.

In most areas in France, we are not allowed to irrigate but that may change in the future if we find better quality from different irrigating methods.

The 2003 vintage in Chablis (like most places in France) had one of the hottest growing seasons ever. We noticed the old vines held together better because some of the roots go down 20 + metres. This must show up somewhere in the quality where most irrigated vineyards don't have as deep root systems.

The irrigating debate in France has been started again this year but I am sure nothing will change.
