Making the ideal home winery

This summer my wine making partner and I will be reconstructing our winery space for our home winery. I was thinking that before launching into such an endevour, I would poll the group for what they think are some must haves. I think this would be a great opportunity for people to post pics of their setups. I imagine that many of you out there have some pretty clever ideas - I'd love to hear them. For background, we usually make about 100 gal from grapes and we live in the Boston area. This can create certain challenges for temperature control come October. Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Greeting from the Noth Shoah! we set up in my cellar, so...

Must have : Hot&cold running water& a short straight run into the sewerline. We've got a cheap Home Despot laundry tub set up that's workable... our ideal would be to have a janitor's low slung slop sink or some sort of enclosed showerstall-like floor drain.

Nice to have if you're in the basement : a heated basement. Reality: insulate everywhere you can ; fuel is toooooo 'spensive. we've adapted to low 50's temps in the cellar when it's colder than a welldigger's butt outside.

Nice to have: floor to ceiling shelving to maximize floor space for carboys, primaries, and barrells. Reality: we still use hooks drilled into the overhead joists and hang up as much equip as is possible.

Nice to have: windows with really good screens. Reality: no such thing as really good screens: flypaper strips til the 1st frost kills the fruitfly population :^)

Nice to have : Castors on everything heavy & a fork lift. Reality : Castors and a motorcycle jack from PepBoys

Nice to have: floorspace to run a forklift around. Reality: we bump into each other like the 3 Stooges ( we resemble that remark!)

See you 'round Chelsea... HTH

Ideal winery area???

I would like two storage areas separate from the work area. Preferably with independent temp control. One cooler, the other warmer.

The sink should be nice & deep with at least two compartments. Possibly the commercial stainless steel sinks. Should have one of those big springy sprayers (again ala commercial food service). Dedicated tap for a Double Blast bottle washer.

Not a great pic but to see sprayer loot at the second picture down on the left at

Hooks or something above the sink area for draining hoses.

Music system. Intercom so wife can page me (like on those 3 handset cordless phones).

Easy clean flooring and walls.

Gotta be some other things, but that's all I can think of right now.

BTW, the pics are not my personal setup, they are a Ferment on Premises.
