Making Wine

Hi.

I have recently bought a house in South of France. It has a large vine in the garden which produces abundant quantitites of Muscat grapes. Last summer, we tried to eat as many as possible (and very nice they were too), but most just ended up rotting on the vine.

I'd like to not let them go to waste, and perhaps turn them into wine. I haven't a clue how this is done..I remember from years ago my Dad fiddling about with sugar, bell jars, u bends and various tablets, but that's about the extent of my knowledge. Does anyone have a good "recipe"?

Thanks

Things have probably come a long way since your dad's day. There are many good books on winemaking and Lum's site is a good source as well. You will find that wine making is really fairly simple - just time consuming. If there is any source of wine making materials around, they will probably have a page of simple instructions. It does not take much. You may want to read up on some specifics about Muscat as well. It is a little different in that it is usually made sweet.
