OK, I have to bottle...

I have a new Ferrari sp? Italian floor corker never used. Have never bottled but have been reading this group a while. My main question is can someone direct me to a website that has "instructions" for this particular corker? As many details as possible as I can use as a reference, like adjustments, what to do the first time out of the box (I can't believe they don't come with instructions), maintanence, cleaning, can I cork very small bottles or champagne, if so how, etc etc...

Also, If I don't have special grease meant for this thing, what's my next best bet?

Plus, it was stored in the box for some time before opening (the place that sold it to me never said otherwise). NOW I hear that was a bad thing and the spring for the arm may have lost it's zing... true? What can I do? Is the handle supossed to sring bacK? I have to manually lift the handle upright.

And good sites on home bottiling in general?

THANKS! NNed

Instructions for what? You stick a bottle on the "tray", put a cork in the hole, push the handle down. The bottle holder is spring loaded and moves freely to allow bottle insertion When the handle is partially down, it locks the holder in place.

Common lithium grease from any hardware store or home center. Food grade is best, but it really does not come in contact with the wine. Small tube should last 70 to 80 years. .

BS They are stored in boxes in wharehouses and stores all over the world.

Mine does not spring back, nor does it sring bacK.. Don't know of any that do.
