Q:Stuttgart, Heidelberg, Freiburg winery suggestions

I am heading to South West Germany by car for the month of September, does anyone have any suggestions for wine related activities?

Thanks, -Chris.

Chris-You are in for a great vacation. Freiburg is a wonderful town with one of the best cathedrals in Europe. The wine and beer are great there. Then I suggest you head southeast to the north shore of Lake Konstanz (the Bodensee). Stay in Meersburg. Grapes and all types of fruit are grown on the hills above the lake. Local wines are very good. Take the ferry from Meersburg over to Mainau. You'll never regret it...it's a special place with it's own micro-climate that allows all type of plants and flowers to grow.

If you're up for it you can cross the Rhine from Freiburg and travel north along the Route Du Vin d'Alsace. This is a fantastic wine region and you will encounter many small towns and villages that make wine that never leaves the region.

Either direction you will have a great time.
