A cheap alternative something to try... I have not make elderberry but I have found that when everything else fails to take a vegi-goo of some type off, vegetable oil will usually work. Pour enough in the container so you can roll it around and coat everything. Then try a bottle brush. I bet it dissolves it. It even dissolves Jack Fruit goo. Anyone has run afoul of that stuff knows how bad it can be! There are lots of things that will take the vegetable oil out.
