sanitizing equipment

got my Winemaking kit this weekend, and after looking it over I am kind of puzzled as how to sanitize some of this stuff.

things like stir paddles, long brushes, and other large parts will not fit in my sink. just soak a rag in sanitizer and wipe? not the best for the brush, but i guess i can soak the bristle part and wipe the other.

How you sanitize depends on which sanitizer you are using.

If using one of the metabisulfites, put some in a spray bottle and spray the stirring spoon, and some of the other stuff. BTW, the brushes are for cleaning, do not need to be sanitized.

I use One-Step cleaner...

I just dissolve a bit on some water and swab down my equipment before using it. I've made about 10 kits now and have never had a problem.

for some of the longer, thinner items like long brushes & paddles, we went to home despot & bought a length of pvc sewer waste pipe , solvent, & a couple of end caps. after assembly we lashed them with twist tie to lallys in the basement & filled them as necessary. it ain't pretty but it gets the job done . I use one of those trays that are made to make wall paper damp when you put it up. All my winemaking supplies I normally use fit in there with room to spare.
